Mark Mason is Chief Financial Officer and Head of Strategy and M&A for Citi Global Wealth Management division, which comprises Citi Smith Barney, Citi Private Bank, and Citi Investment Research. He is also a member of Citi’s Management Committee.
Prior to joining the Citi Global Wealth Management division, Mark spent 3 years as Chief of Staff to Citi’s Chairman and CEO. In that capacity, he played a key role in the development and execution of the company’s Five Point Plan, which helped re-shape Citi’s culture around the world. He also led the Client First program, which aims to transform Citi from a product-centered to a client-centered organization.
Mark joined Citi in 2001 as Vice President of Corporate Development. In this role, he worked with multiple Citi business units to enhance Citi’s cross-selling activities.
Mark was instrumental in the formation of Citi Alternative Investments (CAI) and the development of its client-focused strategy; he held several positions there, including Head of Strategy, Planning, and Analysis. He also served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer for Citi Real Estate Investments, where he was responsible for restructuring the business.
Previously, Mark spent two years with Lucent Technologies as Director of Strategy and Business Development. He also spent several years as a strategy consultant with Marakon Associates, working with a number of Fortune 100 companies to develop strategies to maximize shareholder value. Mark also has experience in Investment Banking with Goldman, Sachs & Co.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Business and Administration in Finance and graduated with Honors from Howard University; and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
