Mark has over 20 years of experience in regenerative medical research and has, together with his university research group, published more than 250 academic papers and books. During his career he has received approximately £30 million of external peer reviewed grant funding and been awarded numerous international research prizes, including the 2002 European Science Prize. He has also trained numerous students and staff, many of whom are now leading international academics and clinicians.
Mark is a key figure in British and International bioscience. He is a member of the MHRA's Committee of Safety of Medicines Biological Sub Committee, Secretary of the European Tissue Repair Society and former Chairman of the UK Government Foresight Committee on Health and Life Sciences.
Before he co-founded Renovo, Mark founded, chaired and was CEO of Manchester Biotech Ltd., an organisation formed to foster promising new biotechnology ventures. During his time as Chairman, he was responsible for funding, building and staffing its £15 million Incubator Building. |
