Mark Dobson, promoted to Thrashers director of player personnel on Sept. 6, 2006, will oversee the pro scouting staff in the evaluation of talent in the NHL, AHL and Europe, as well as assist Thrashers Executive Vice President and General Manager Don Waddell with player decisions for the Thrashers.
Dobson, who previously worked together with Waddell on the staff of two former Int3ernational Hockey League franchises in San Diego and Orlando, joined the Thrashers scouting department on a part-time basis in 1998 ... He was promoted to a full-time pro scout on Aug. 5, 1999.
From 1995-97, Dobson served as a part-time scout for the Orlando Solar Bears, and assisted with the evaluation of players for Waddell's San Diego Gulls from 1990 to 1995.
Dobson played collegiate hockey for St. Louis University and United States International University, where he received a master's degree in business administration in 1983 ... After completing his undergraduate studies at USIU in 1982, Dobson served as an assistant coach at the school for three years.
