Veteran international scout Mark Crow, based in Rimini, Italy, is in his sixth season as the Hawks’ primary overseas talent evaluator.
Prior to his stint with the Hawks, Crow worked in a similar capacity for the Los Angeles Clippers from 1993-2000.
Crow, a four-year letterman at Duke (1974-77), averaged 9.4 ppg and 4.0 rpg in 87 career contests, and was voted to the school’s all-decade team for the ‘70’s. He was selected in the sixth round of the 1977 NBA Draft by New Jersey, and played in 15 games for the Nets that season.
In 1978, he began his European basketball career, which would take him to Italy, Portugal and Spain. He finished his 12-year playing career in Udine, Italy in 1988.
Crow moved into player management following his playing retirement, working with NBA and international player agent Herb Rudoy, scouting and recruiting for the firm then known as I.B.C., now called Interperformances.
A graduate of Benedictine High School in Richmond, VA, where he was all-state in basketball and football, Crow was a teammate of longtime NBA assistant coach John Kuester (currently with Orlando).
The 52-year-old Crow speaks fluent Italian, as well as Spanish and Portuguese.
He has a daughter, Erica, and a son, Jack. |
