Creativity has been a running theme in the life of Standard Data Corporation's president and founder Mark Iobst. While his childhood dreams of becoming a sculptor were realized as a hobby rather than as his vocation, Mark Iobst nonetheless held tight to his belief in the importance of creativity. Forty-eight years ago when Mark founded Standard Data after a six year career with IBM, he did so with the strong belief that the best solutions come from an open and creative mind. Says Mark, "Anything can have an art form to it. At Standard Data, we believe it's important to combine business skills with technical skills and creative skills." It is an equation that has worked well for Mark and Standard Data Corporation. Over the past four decades, Mark has taken the company from a one-man operation to a corporation with four data and image processing locations, where an excess of 90 million documents can be processed each year. Today, Mark provides support services to SDC by continuing to play a leadership role. Mark is also an ardent patron of the arts and values his long-standing relationship with the artist, Nathan Wasserberger. The artist's paintings fill Mark's office and house and several of his paintings have been used to promote SDC's theme, "Service is Also an Art Form." |
