Mark Raabe manages the firm’s Application Development Department. In that role he leads the firm’s computer programming staff and is in charge of researching, developing, and promoting new uses of legal technology. Under his direction, the department has: Provided specialized systems in such areas as case management, docketing, conflicts checking, and computerized document drafting and proofing Built systems to manage particular practice areas, such as immigration, agricultural law, and intellectual property Supported complex litigation (especially the Exxon Valdez case) with systems to estimate damages and track witnesses, exhibits, and claims Extensively customized and integrated the firm’s word processing, document management, and accounting systems Enabled the electronic interchange of billing and case-related information between the Firm and its clients Evaluated emerging technologies (such as, currently, Windows Vista , Microsoft Office 12, SharePoint extranets, and so on) and helped the firm plan its adoption of themAutomated many of the firm’s back-office functions.Before joining the firm, Mark spent eight years as an author of PC-based software products and as a systems analyst and database design consultant to companies and government agencies in the Washington, D.C. area. He automated the operations of the Publications Department of the World Bank, including systems for the computerized editing, production, cataloging, inventory, and worldwide sale of over 1,500 titles in nine languages. He received his bachelor’s degree in 1980 from Dartmouth College and his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1993. Admitted to Practice (State) Minnesota. |
