Mark R. A. Palim, PhD, CFA, is a principal in the Washington DC office of LECG. He has twelve years of experience applying economic and financial theory to a variety of business problems, policy questions and disputes. His clients have included Fortune 500 corporations, partnerships, non-profits, and the US Department of Justice.
Dr. Palim has been a testifying or consulting expert on a variety of economic issues in antitrust, intellectual property and other litigation matters. In antitrust matters, these issues have included questions of market definition, market power, patent misuse and class certification. In the intellectual property arena, Dr. Palim has worked on patent, copyright, trademark and trade secret cases. His analysis has covered a range of damage measures, including lost profits, price erosion, disgorgement, and reasonable royalty damages.
Dr. Palim led a team of 75 adjudicators charged with valuing claims for the Department of Justice and the special master administering the federal September 11th Victim Compensation Fund.
Outside of the context of litigation, Dr. Palim's consulting experience includes working with patent owners establishing licensing programs and exploring alternative strategies to maximize the value of their technology.
Dr. Palim has published articles in academic and professional journals on a variety of topics including competition policy internationally, strategies for exploiting intellectual property, and economic issues at the intersection of intellectual property and antitrust. |
