Mark Gambill brings to Cary Street Partners over 25 years of experience in the leadership of one of America’s largest financial organizations. He is a co-founder of Cary Street Partners and serves as its Managing Partner. From 1972 to 1999, Mark was employed by Wheat First Butcher Singer. He founded and became head of Wheat’s capital markets group in the late 1980s, where he was responsible for investment banking, public finance, taxable fixed income, municipal sales and trading, equity sales, trading and research. He became President of Wheat in 1996. During Mark’s tenure, Wheat First Butcher Singer became one of the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast’s preeminent investment banking and brokerage firms, growing to assets of $1.2 billion, revenues of $600 million and 128 offices located in 20 states. Wheat merged with First Union Corporation in January 1998. Subsequent to Wheat’s merger with First Union, Mark served as President of Wheat First Union. He later was named Head of Equity Capital Markets when the capital markets areas of the organization were combined. Since 1999, Mark has remained active in the financial community as a principal investor, financial advisor and Board member. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Speedway Motorsports, Inc. (NYSE: TRK) and Motorsports Authentics. Mark was previously on the Board of Directors of The Noland Company which was sold to WinWholesale. Mark was also the former Chairman of NTC Communications, a privately-held communications company, which was sold to Shenandoah Telecommunications in December 2004. Mark graduated summa cum laude from Hampden-Sydney College. He lives in Richmond, Virginia with his wife and son who is in college. |
