Dr. Nelson received his undergraduate degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY and earned his medical degree from F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine at Bethesda, MD.
He is board certified in ophthalmology and had one of the highest scores on the board exam. Dr. Nelson did his fellowship training at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, one of the top institutions in the country as rated by U.S. News and World Report. He has published articles on refractive surgery and other topics in our most prestigious ophthalmology journals and has presented lectures at national meetings on refractive surgery. Dr. Nelson was chosen as a Heed Fellow during his fellowship, which is awarded annually to 20 ophthalmologists in the country with the most outstanding academic and research potential.
Dr. Nelson has extensive experience in refractive surgery and has performed over 3,500 refractive surgeries while he continues to maintain a very high level of skill and keeps up with the current technology.
He is licensed in Oregon, Washington State, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. He was board certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology in November 2000. |
