Mr. Schine has been developing computer applications since 1976, when he programmed in assembly language on one of the first personal computers available at age 15. He holds an undergraduate degree from UCLA ('84) and a M.B.A. from Wharton Business School ('87), where he concentrated in Finance and Management Information Systems (M.I.S.). At Wharton, he received the honor of "distinguished" in coursework relating to the use of personal computers for business applications. Subsequent to his graduation at Wharton, Mr. Schine was director of strategic planning for a publicly traded computer technology company, High Resolution Sciences, until 1990. He then became a principal and vice-president at Econalysis, Inc., a financial and management-consulting firm. Mr. Schine performed consulting services for such organizations as Atari, American Express, the Insurance Commissioner for the State of California, the University of California, and over 80 other clients. Since that time, he founded Saturn Software, Inc., a company specializing in developing and marketing business software to specific industries, specializing in the entertainment industry. Mr. Schine holds 6 patents in the television and computer display technology area for research he conducted in the mid-1980's and has designed and built a CCD camera and ISA bus interface for use in multimedia computer applications. He has lectured at the graduate engineering level at the University of Southern California. Prior to 1996, Mr. Schine was a financial consultant and contract programmer. Saturn Software Inc. was formed to market and support industry-specific business software developed by Mr. Schine. In 1996 Mr. Schine developed and handed off his first rights management program. Starting in 1997, Mr. Schine’s major focus has been to develop an all-new, fast, powerful, and easy to use rights licensing program. Having observed his first system in operation, and learning of its weaknesses as well as the shortcomings of other commercially available systems, he developed the Comet database with an all-new architecture and corresponding all-new algorithms to provide a generational improvement over what was being offered by other software vendors and exceeding the business requirements of the industry. |
