Mark J. Samolczyk is senior vice president corporate planning and development for The Timken Company.
Samolczyk is responsible for leading the development of enterprise strategy, identifying and evaluating growth opportunities and leading corporate processes for acquisition, affiliation and divestiture.
Samolczyk joined Timken in 1981 as a marketing associate in Canton, Ohio, and has held a variety of management positions in North America and Europe. He moved to France in 1988 as manager business coordination Europe, Africa and West Asia. He became general manager of Timken’s business in Mexico in 1990, and in 1992 was named president of Canadian operations. He returned to Canton in 1995, where he held various sales and marketing positions for Timken’s bearing and industrial segments. In 1998, Samolczyk was named vice president and general manager Precision Steel Components, and subsequently became president of that unit. Following Timken’s acquisition of The Torrington Company in 2003, Samolczyk assumed responsibility for integrating automotive operations. He was named to his current position in 2004.
Samolczyk currently serves as vice chairman of the American Bearing Manufacturers Association. He is a member of the Manufacturers' Alliance for Productivity and Innovation and a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers. He also serves on the board of United Way of Greater Stark County and the Walsh University Advisory Board.
Samolczyk received a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Notre Dame and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Denver. He also completed the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration. |
