Mark Leaman manages SRA’s process improvement program and led the company’s successful effort to obtain a Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Capability Maturity Model (CMM) Level 3 rating. He is responsible for planning and coordinating the development, implementation, and improvement of all management and engineering processes for SRA, as well as supporting tools, tailoring guidelines, and training. His organization includes a team of process engineers, estimating specialists, instructors, and software engineers that focus on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of SRA project teams. Leaman led the company-wide teams that developed SRA’s Project Management (PM) Handbook, the PM Toolkit, and a five-day PM training course.
Leaman joined SRA in 1984 as a programmer and then served as technical lead and project manager on several software development projects. In 1991, he participated in SRA’s first CMM-based software process assessment and was selected to lead SRA’s process improvement program. His professional memberships include the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Computer Society and the Washington D.C. Software Process Improvement Network (SPIN).
