Practice
Mr. O’Donoghue is a member of the Firm’s Corporate International Department and its Co-General Counsel. Since joining the Firm in 1977, he has worked on both litigation and corporate matters. In recent years, he has concentrated on corporate projects in Latin America, particularly in the oil and gas, energy and chemicals sector. He has extensive experience in project finance and energy infrastructure projects, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, privatizations, cross-border commercial contracts and international litigation. His recent transactions have included the sale of a minority interest in a major U.S. refinery, the re-structuring of a Mexican joint venture, and the acquisition and divestiture of manufacturing facilities in the U.S. Mr. O’Donoghue has also worked on the development of electric power plants, pipelines and transmission lines in Mexico; an independent power producer project and privatization of a regional electricity utility in Oman; advice on regulatory changes in the natural gas and energy laws in Mexico; assistance on cross-border investment projects; and international disputes. He has represented clients in civil and criminal litigation involving securities, commodities, tax, professional liability, regulatory and real estate matters.
Mr. O’Donoghue is chairman of Senator Charles E. Schumer’s Judicial Screening Panel and a member of the board of directors of Fedcap Rehabilitation Services, Inc., a non-profit dedicated to training and employing persons with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Prior to joining the Firm, he clerked for Justice Morris Pashman of the New Jersey Supreme Court.
