Mark Parker brings 27 years of leadership experience at Nike to his role of President and Chief Executive Officer of Nike, Inc. Joining the company in 1979 as a designer, Mark has been at the center of the company’s evolution in product design, advanced research and development, manufacturing, marketing, and brand management. He is widely recognized as the product visionary for the Nike Air franchise and many other industry-leading product design and performance innovations. As co-presidents of the Nike brand, Mark and Charlie Denson teamed up to drive a period of strong growth and financial performance for Nike’s multibillion-dollar footwear, apparel, and equipment businesses.
As CEO, Mark leads growth of the Nike brand, and the growth of Nike Inc.'s global business portfolio, which includes Converse, Cole Haan, Exeter Brands, Hurley International, and Nike Bauer Hockey.
The coolest thing about working at Nike for Mark is the opportunity to work with an array of intensively creative, influential people both inside and outside of the company. "There's rarely a dull moment" he said. "One day I'll be with a graffiti artist in Brooklyn, the next working on a creative collaboration in Tokyo, then spending time with Lance Armstrong in Austin, reviewing research and advanced product design concepts at Nike World Headquarters, or in LA meeting with retail partners. I think it's critical to get out, stay connected, grounded and creative . . . keep learning!" |
