Mark E. Brown was named senior vice president, global strategic sourcing in September 2002. Prior to this assignment, he was executive vice president and chief financial officer.
Brown joined Whirlpool in 1973 as an accountant at the Marion, Ohio Division. After serving at the St. Paul (MN) plant and the corporate office Benton Harbor, Michigan, he was named to manage the Columbia (SC) plant in March, 1988. Subsequent to this assignment in Columbia, he was named group controller for the Kenmore Appliance Group before being named controller for the North American Appliance Group in 1991. Brown was appointed vice president, Procurement, North American Appliance Group in 1993; general manager, Marketing, North American Appliance Group in 1995; controller, Whirlpool Asia in 1996; and, in 1997 he was named corporate vice president and controller for Whirlpool Corporation. In 1999 he was named executive vice president and chief financial officer.
