Mr. Murphy received his Bachelor of Science degree with a major in finance and a minor in real estate from California State University at Long Beach. Mr. Murphy is a certified public accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Mr. Murphy joined Lesley, Thomas, Schwarz & Postma, Inc. in 1985 after five years as the controller of a large local holding company that operated and controlled commercial real estate properties and a printing/publishing company. As a partner, he is primarily in charge of planning and supervising audit and review engagements in a wide array of industries including technology, healthcare, real estate, mortgage banking, service, distribution and manufacturing. He also has extensive experience with enterprises financed and funded by governmental agencies. His experience also includes providing audit and compliance services to various types of employee benefit plans and advisory services for general compensation and benefits planning.
In addition, Mr. Murphy is experienced in providing various management and advisory services, including analysis of the effectiveness of accounting systems, related policies and procedures and overall operating efficiencies. Mr. Murphy is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the firm's Quality Control Standards relating to accounting and audit services.
