Mark Kilgus, M.D., Ph.D., has been appointed Chair of the Department of Psychiatry. He most recently served as Medical Director of the Woodbridge Psychiatric Hospital and as Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the James H. Quillen College of Medicine of East Tennessee State University. Dr. Kilgus graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and received a Ph.D. in Curriculum Development from Wayne State University. He completed both a general psychiatry residency and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the William S. Hall Psychiatric Institute in South Carolina. Currently, Dr. Kilgus’ funded research is evaluating the effectiveness of psychiatric care provided remotely via video-conference. He is also studying the treatment of nicotine dependence and has completed research in the areas of substance abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder and the treatment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). |
