Mark C. Lorenz, 56, is a vice president, Global Transformation Program of Delphi Corporation. He is also a member of the Delphi Strategy Board, the company's top policy-making group.
Lorenz joined General Motors (GM) at the former Chevrolet-Pontiac-GM of Canada (C-P-C) Flint Engine as an analyst, accounts payable, in 1973. There he held several positions in manufacturing and materials management including general supervisor of material handling and general supervisor of production control.
In 1985, Lorenz became superintendent of materials, C-P-C Stamping in Hamilton, Ohio. Two years later, he became assistant manager of the Technical Liaison Office at NUMMI, a GM-Toyota joint venture, in Fremont, Calif.
Transferring to Warren, Mich., in 1989, he became advisor of C-P-C Production Systems. In 1990, he became manager of synchronous organization and two years later, he became director of materials management, experimental manufacturing. In 1993, Lorenz was named director of materials management for GM's North American Operations prototype shops. In March 1996, he became executive director of PC&L for Delphi and was elected a Delphi vice president in charge of PC&L in November 1998. He was named vice president, Operations & Logistics effective January 1, 2000.
Lorenz earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Michigan in 1972. He earned a master's degree in business administration industrial management from Central Michigan University in 1986.
Lorenz is a member of the Manufacturing and Engineering External Advisory Board at the Broad Graduate School of Management and the College of Engineering at Michigan State University. He also serves on the National Safety Council's Board of Directors.
