Mark A. Opper is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm's Washington, D.C. office. As a member of the Tax Department, Mark focuses his practice on partnership, international, and corporate tax matters, with particular emphasis on complex issues and transactions involving partnership structures.
Mark provides international tax planning for multinationals, and he regularly counsels clients on the tax implications of various inbound and outbound transactions. He is experienced in leading multi-jurisdictional, cross-disciplinary advisor teams in the design and execution of international restructurings. Mark also has substantial experience with corporate transactions, including mergers and other reorganizations, and spin-offs.
Mark has worked extensively with large corporate clients in the energy industry, both in domestic and international settings. He typically assists these clients with business restructurings, such as acquisitions and dispositions, and the entering and exiting of joint venture arrangements, in a manner that is most tax-efficient for the businesses and their owners.
Prior to joining McDermott, Mark worked at an international law firm, where he focused primarily on partnership, real estate, and S corporation tax matters.
Mark is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Virginia, and Georgia.
