Marjorie Fessler is the Supervisor of Outpatient Educational Services, based in the Center for Development and Learning (Department of Pediatric Neurology and Developmental Medicine) at the Kennedy Krieger Institute (KKI). Dr. Fessler divides her time between the Institute and the Center for Reading Excellence, a consortium of KKI, the Johns Hopkins University, and the Maryland State Department of Education.
She is also a part-time Instructor in the Department of Pediatrics, and a Faculty Associate in the School of Professional Studies in Business and Education at the Johns Hopkins University.
Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Fessler began her schooling at Brooklyn College, receiving a degree in Education in 1968. She continued her education at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, receiving a Masters in Elementary Education in 1971 and a second Masters in Reading in 1981. Dr. Fessler received her doctorate (Ed.D.) in Special Education from the Johns Hopkins University in 1991.
Dr. Fessler worked as a classroom teacher, special educator, and educational diagnostician, in Wisconsin and Minnesota prior to moving to the Baltimore area. She also worked as a staff psychologist in the Department of Child Psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. She has held her present position since joining Kennedy Krieger Institute in 1987. |
