Marilyn Crone offers a decade of experience in higher education, serving three private institutions in the United States and Canada. She has managed a broad range of enrollment issues, including student recruitment, student retention, fiscal management, and campus marketing and communications. She brings broad business expertise, serving as acting chief operating officer and management consultant at Trinity Western University in British Columbia, as well as more than 15 years in financial services prior to entering higher education.
In her current role at Trinity Western University, Ms. Crone helping develop a 10-year strategic directions and business model for the school. Her leadership efforts have helped this private Canadian campus stabilize enrollment after a three-year decline and position the school to reach its aggressive enrollment goals. She is assisting her team to build reporting capacity which informs strategies and monitors progress, and to completely overhaul the campus communications and visit activities.
Ms. Crone also provided management consulting for Quest University Canada, a newly established private institution in British Columbia. She created and headed the implementation of key enrollment strategies needed to enroll the university’s inaugural class until permanent enrollment leadership could be secured.
In the United States, Ms. Crone served at Baylor University (TX) for seven years. As vice president for enrollment and retention management, she helped Baylor achieve a number of remarkable enrollment gains, including a 21 percent increase in overall enrollment, a 40 percent increase in minority enrollment, a stronger class profile, and greater net tuition revenue. She also oversaw retention efforts for the university, including academic advising and support services, career services, and academic scholarships and financial aid.
