Marie Taris offers 35 years of experience in higher education admissions. She specializes in the enrollment of graduate, international, and professional students. Ms. Taris served 20 years in the Office of Graduate, International, and Professional Admissions at The Ohio State University, most recently as the director until her retirement in 2005. Supervising a staff of 50, Ms. Taris helped the office process more than 25,000 applications per year. She managed the application evaluation process, referring applicants to the appropriate departments for final decisions, reviewing the English and financial needs of international students, and issuing immigration documents for those students. In addition, she oversaw the office’s budget, served on committees such as the Graduate Recruitment Committee and Professional Schools Recruitment Committee, developed an undergraduate recruitment program for international students, and provided consultations and workshops on effective recruitment practices.
Associations, presentations, and education: Ms. Taris has been a member of the National Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO), the Ohio Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (OACRAO), NAFSA: The Association of International Educators, and the National Association of Graduate Admissions Professionals (NAGAP). She has delivered presentations at the conferences of all of those organizations. Ms. Taris holds a Master of Arts degree from The Ohio State University and also completed her Ph.D. coursework there. |
