Marian Spitzberg is senior vice president/Human Resources a position she has held since February 2000 and is a member of Belo's Management Committee. Prior to this promotion she was vice president/Deputy General Counsel and Secretary of Belo. She joined Belo as the Company's assistant general counsel in March 1992. In January 1995 she was named vice president/Assistant General Counsel and was promoted to vice president/Deputy General Counsel in January 1997. She assumed the additional responsibility of secretary in July 1998. Spitzberg has had extensive involvement in Belo's leadership development and inclusiveness initiatives and minority purchasing programs.
Born in Houston and raised in Fort Worth Spitzberg earned a B.A. degree in journalism from the University of California at Berkeley in 1970. She holds a Juris Doctor from the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University where she graduated cum laude and served as an associate editor for the Southwestern Law Journal.
From October 1985 until February 1992 Spitzberg worked as an associate in the corporate and securities section at the law firm of Haynes and Boone in Dallas.
Active in civic affairs Spitzberg is chair of the Dallas Bar Foundation Board of Trustees. She also serves on the Executive Board of the Dedman School of Law. |
