Description of Practice:
Maria Z. Stearns is an associate in the firm's Orange County office where she practices employment litigation. Ms. Stearns represents employers in a wide range of matters including the following: litigation at all levels of state and federal court and arbitration proceedings involving claims of employment discrimination, wrongful termination, and wage/hour class actions; unfair labor practices and representation proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board; collective-bargaining negotiations; union campaigns; labor strikes and picketing including TRO and injunction proceedings; defense of matters before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Department of Fair Employment and Housing; wage and hour government audits and compliance matters; employee handbook and personnel policy issues; and preparation of employment contracts and separation agreements. Ms. Stearns is a member of the State Bars of California, Missouri and Kansas.
Educational History:
Ms. Stearns received her J.D. from Harvard Law School, and she received a B.A. in Spanish and Philosophy, summa cum laude, from the University of Kansas. Ms. Stearns was a Varsity Tennis Player and NCAA Woman of the Year. |
