Maria Pope serves as vice president, general manager of Pope & Talbot's wood products division and president of the company's Canadian subsidiary. She joined the Portland-based Pope & Talbot in 1995 and was named vice president, chief financial officer and corporate secretary in 1999 and was made vice president of the wood products division five years later.
Prior to joining Pope & Talbot, Pope held financial management positions at Levi Strauss & Co. from 1992 through 1995 and was a financial analyst in Morgan Stanley's mergers and acquisitions department from 1987 to 1990. Pope is a corporate board member of Premera Blue Cross Board, where she serves as the chair of the Audit Committee and member of the Compensation Committee. She serves as vice chair of the Council of Forest Industries board of directors, chair of the Oregon Symphony board of directors and is a member of the FM Global Advisory Board.
Pope holds a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University and received an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. She lives in Portland, Ore.
