Margaret’s practice focuses on representing employers in multi-state employment litigation matters and providing counseling to management/human resources on a variety of employment practice concerns. Margaret’s litigation experience includes defending employers in federal and state courts, in arbitration and mediation forums, and before administrative agencies. She has experience on a wide range of claims, including:
Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, and Sarbanes-Oxley Act;
State anti-discrimination statutes;
Wrongful/retaliatory discharge;
Breach of employment agreement/breach of non-compete and non-disclosure covenants; and
Employment-related torts such as defamation, interference with business relations, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligent hiring and supervision.
The employment counseling aspect of Margaret’s practice involves:
Providing proactive advice to minimize the risk of litigation and workplace disputes;
Reviewing employment issues in connection with corporate mergers/acquisitions or down-sizing;
Reviewing personnel handbooks, policies, and procedures;
Analyzing multi-state and federal wage and hour matters;
Analyzing multi-state and federal employee privacy issues; and
Investigation of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation complaints.
