Following his Physical Education undergraduate work in his home country of Brazil, Marcelo earned a Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology from Ithaca College, New York in 2002. With 10 years of dedicated work with athletes ranging from elite youth to professionals, he brings a wealth of experience within the Performance Training industry to the AP-LA team. Marcelo's credentials also boast a breadth of practical experience so vital to elite performance training. In 1999, Marcelo conducted fitness testing for "Academia Cia do Corpo" in Brazil which focused on athlete body composition, posture analysis and motor pattern evaluations. Marcelo also oversaw the Strength and Conditioning efforts of the Pittsburgh Pirates' A-level team in Hickory, NC. His life-long passion for and playing experience in "futbol" led him to train elite club level soccer athletes and teams at the at "Universidade dos Esportes" (Brasilia, Brazil) and Cornell University. A successful athlete in his own right, Marcelo has been involved with sports throughout his life playing professional soccer for Nacional (Manaus), wining a Bronze medal in the "Campeonato Brasileiro" National Rowing Competition and swimming competitively. He also enjoys playing recreational beachside "footvolley". |
