Mr. Lefar has been a senior marketing and finance executive for several companies and has operations experience in the consumer packaged goods, telecommunications and technology industries. He currently serves as Chief Marketing Officer of Cingular Wireless, the $16 billion joint venture between BellSouth and SBC Communications. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Lefar served as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Cable and Wireless Global, where he was responsible for all aspects of marketing strategy and plan implementation in support of the company's $5.9 billion revenue plan. He played a leadership role in the development of the company's growth strategies and the resulting acquisitions of Digital Island and Exodus Communications. Prior to joining C&W, Mr. Lefar held senior management roles at Verizon Wireless and GTE Wireless. As Vice President of Wireless Internet, Data Services and E-enablement, he led the development and launch of Verizon Wireless' first national Internet service, "Mobile Web", named "best overall" by PC Magazine. His organization led the evaluation of new applications and contract negotiations with all wireless data partners. He was also responsible for the design and functionality of Verizon's on-line retail store and customer self-service offerings. As Vice President of Marketing for GTE, Mr. Lefar was responsible for strategy development, voice and data product management, advertising, pricing, promotion and marketing operations. Mr. Lefar began his career as a financial analyst in the Food Products Division of the Procter & Gamble Company. During the next nine years, he held a range of finance and brand management positions of increasing responsibility in the United States and Eastern Europe. During his tenure, Mr. Lefar built the equity of many well known brands including Jif Peanut Butter, Duncan Hines Baking Mixes, Crisco cooking oil, and the European versions of Tide detergent and Downy fabric softener. Mr. Lefar received his BS in Commerce from the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce in 1985. He currently serves on the Board of Advisors of Teradata, an NCR company. |
