Marc Jacobs is the Vice President and Supervising Partner of R.J. Grunts, Scoozi, Antico Posto and Di Pescara.
Jacobs was first introduced to the restaurant business at the age of fourteen, when he worked his way up from washing dishes and mopping floors to cooking on the front line as a short-order broiler cook for a neighborhood café.
In the fall of 1991, Jacobs was introduced to Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises when he began working as a banquet server and busser at Bones. He immediately took to the culture and philosophies of the company, and discovered his knack for schmoozing and “wowing the guest”. Jacobs was promoted to Banquet Supervisor the following year, and mastered the art of multi-tasking. In the summer of 1995, after graduating from UIC with a degree in Criminal Investigation, Jacobs went through the management-training program.
The turning point in Jacobs’ career as a manager was his transfer to R.J. Grunts in 1997. Jacobs was part of the team at Grunts when the flagship restaurant almost closed. It was during this experience that Jacobs learned to cherish every guest and value every employee.
In 2001, he was given the opportunity to open Antico Posto as a Supervisor, over-seeing both stores. He was involved in building the concept, creating menus, and hiring and training the opening team. Under Russell Bry (former Executive Chef for LEYE) Jacobs developed a passion for food and wine, and became more familiar with the opening process.
Most recently, Jacobs was a part of the opening team for Di Pescara, the newest LEYE concept located in Northbrook Court Shopping Mall. Jacobs was most excited about developing a new concept from the ground up focusing on interior design, architecture, and menu development.
Today, as a managing partner, Jacobs focuses on driving sales and developing future leaders. Leading by example, he prides himself in continuing to run shifts, working the room, and touching as many tables as possible. Jacobs is dedicated to his stores and employees. LEYE has also provided Jacobs with the one true love of his life, his wife Vanessa, whom he met years ago while working at Bones. |
