Mr. Morgenstern is the Founder and Managing Partner of Blue Mesa Partners (co-located in San Francisco and Cleveland) which was formed in 1996 to make private investments in early-stage and emerging growth companies. He serves as Senior Advisor to public and private companies, and their management teams, Boards of Directors, and transactions. He is also a co-founder and Managing Partner of Access Ventures, a committed capital fund created to co-invest in private, venture-stage, technology companies.Prior to focusing entirely on his entrepreneurial activities, until 2007, Mr. Morgenstern was the West Coast leader of the Corporate and Securities practice for Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal, and a nationally-known corporate and securities lawyer. Previously, for 15 years he served as the Managing Partner of Kahn Kleinman, a midwest regional law firm. He is a veteran deal maker who has structured, negotiated, and closed hundreds of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, and public and private securities offerings. He is a prolific author of thought-leading business and securities articles.He served as a Director of Mr. Gasket Co. (NASDAQ), was the founding lawyer for OfficeMax, and is a member of the Board of Advisors of Capstone Partners. A long-time board member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, he has also been on the SEC's Executive Committee for Small Business Capital Formation for more than 20 years.
