Monheimer is an adjunct professor at the University of Vermont School of Business Administration and a consultant to the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), a Washington, D.C. based federal agency from which he retired in 2004. He served as senior commercial counsel and, later, associate general counsel with OPIC from 1995 to 2004. Prior to joining OPIC, he served as senior advisor to the Archivist of the United States for one year. He was in private law practice in San Francisco from 1958-1993. An honors graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and its law school, Monheimer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science earned in 1952 and a Juris Doctorate degree earned in 1957. He served as an officer in the United States Army from 1952-1954, during which time he received a Bronze Star for meritorious service. Throughout his career, he has also served on the boards of numerous non-profit institutions and foundations as well as on city and school boards in Berkeley, Calif. Monheimer resides in Burlington, Vt.
