Manoj Shah of Nairobi, Kenya, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 88th International Convention held in Hong Kong, June 27-July 1, 2005.
Director Shah is an office executive with interests in the automobile, property and finance sectors.
A member of the Nairobi Greater Lions Club since 1986, Director Shah has held many offices within the association, including club president, club secretary, district SightFirst chairperson, zone chairperson, region chairperson, Impact Team leader and served on the faculty at six Emerging and Senior Lions Leadership Institutes. In addition, he was involved in membership development and growth in Africa, published two editions of the Smiley Lions Hand Book and participated in many leadership workshops throughout Africa. Director Shah was active in starting the Lions Service Center in Kenya with the Lions Renal Unit, the Lions Dental Center and the Lions Hearing Center.
In recognition of his service to the association, he has received numerous awards, including seven International President’s Certificates of Appreciation, three International President’s Leadership Medals, a 100% District Governor’s Award and three International President’s Medals. He is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lion activities, Director Shah is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He is currently the honorary secretary of the M.P. Shah Hospital, vice chairperson of the A.A. Road Safety Council, a board member of the Automobile Association of Kenya, chairperson of A.A. Insurance brokers and an active member of the Visa Oshwal Community. He previously served as president of the Kenya Motor Sports Club, secretary of the O.R.C. Organization and director of Safari Rally Ltd.
Director Shah and his wife, Jayna, also a member of the Nairobi Greater Lions Club and a Melvin Jones Fellow, have two children. |
