Manfred R. Heeg was appointed president of Magnet-Motor GmbH in May 2006 and is responsible for planning, organizing and managing the research, development, production and support of electric propulsion and energy storage components and systems based on the permanent magnet technology developed at MM for many years. Prior to his appointment at L-3, Mr. Heeg served as managing director of Hightex Engineering GmbH in Rimsting, Germany, an engineering company focused on the design, analysis, test and installation of tensile structures based on translucent and transparent high-tech membranes. From 1999 through 2001, he ran his own business and worked as a technical consultant for various venture capital companies in Munich. Before that Mr. Heeg worked more than 18 years in various technical and administrative functions with Magnet-Motor GmbH, contributing significantly to the start-up and growth of the company as a successful business in high-tech research and development with a highly qualified technical staff of about 100 employees. Mr. Heeg joined the German Air Force in 1973, where he started his engineering study, and graduated from the University of the Federal Armed Forces as Diploma Engineer for Air & Space Technology. He underwent pilot training and served as assistant in the officer school in the area of methodology, didactics and rhetoric for leaders and managers and left the GAF as Second Lieutenant in 1980 to start his civilian career. |
