Malcolm Unsworth was named President and Chief Operating Officer of Itron, Inc. in April 2008. He joined Itron in July of 2004 as Sr. Vice President, Hardware Solutions, when Itron acquired Schulmberger Electricity Metering. In April 2007, Unsworth was named Sr. Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Actaris.
Unsworth spent 25 years with Schlumberger in management and VP-level positions, including 11 years associated with the electricity meter business. He was also VP and General Manager of Schlumberger’s North America Operations in charge of water, electricity and gas products. Additionally, Unsworth was in charge of the CellNet operation when the company was owned by Schlumberger. From 1995 to 2000, Unsworth served as the President of the Axiohm Ithaca Printer Business (Ithaca, New York). He has a B.S. in Mechanical and Production Engineering from Salford University in the United Kingdom. Unsworth has also earned the grade of Professional Engineer and completed the APEO required course in Mechanical Engineering at Toronto University.
