Malcolm Garland is Senior Vice President and former founding Chairman of the Board of Sound Bank. He graduated from Harvard University with an AB degree in 1965 and an MBA in 1970. Mr. Garland served in the United States Marine Corps in the Republic of Vietnam as a Captain and received the Bronze Star with Combat V.
He was President of The Malcolm Garland Company, President and CEO of O’Neill Developments, Inc., Senior Vice President and COO of First Georgia Bank, and Chairman of the Chattahoochee and Buckhead Banks. Mr. Garland is a registered securities principal (series 24) and is life, health, property, and casualty insurance licensed. He is President-elect of the Beaufort Ole Town Rotary Club, a Director of the Carteret County Chamber of Commerce, and Treasurer of the Down East Business Association. He is a Certified Crown Financial trainer.
A member of Smyrna Pentecostal Holiness Church, Mr. Garland serves as Deacon, Director of Discipleship, and Adult Sunday School teacher. He is married to Mary Randolph Garland. They have two sons, Chandler and Nathanael (deceased).
