Upon joining KSTC in February 2001, Mahendra brought 30 years of teaching, research and management experience to the creation of KSEF and making R&D investments in cutting edge technologies. KSEF is helping to forge partnerships between academic, industrial and state institutions in developing Kentucky’s scientific and engineering capacity. Before joining KSTC, Mahendra worked at several universities in the U.S., Europe and India and at MBI International, a biotechnology R&D organization in Lansing, Michigan. He has been a consultant to United Nations Development Program, Food and Agriculture Organization and the Organization of American States. Dr. Jain is a fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology and is on the editorial board of the Journal of Biosciences and Bioengineering (Japan) and the Indian Journal of Microbiology. He has received funds for his projects from U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Program Resources Inc./National Cancer Institute, National Science Foundation/Small Business Innovation Research-subcontract, Office of Naval Research, state agencies and industrial clients. He received his Ph.D. in microbiology in 1972 from I.A.R.I., New Delhi. |
