Background/Education
Ms. Brimer was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1958. She received her B.A. and M.A. from the University of Michigan in 1980 and 1982, and her J.D. from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law in 1988.
Expertise
Ms. Brimer practiced for ten years with the Office of Chief Counsel for the Internal Revenue Service as a Special Assistant United States Attorney. She represented the Internal Revenue Service in all aspects of Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. In several cases, she also represented the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. She has extensive experience in all phases of bankruptcy practice. Ms. Brimer also has written and spoken extensively for organizations such as the Federal Bar Association and the Michigan Institute for Continuing Legal Education.
Memberships/Associations
Ms. Brimer is the co-chair of the Bankruptcy Section of the Eastern District of Michigan Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. She is also a member of the Advisory Committee of the Eastern District of Michigan Bankruptcy Court and was a member of the Local Rules Committee that drafted the current Local Rules of the Bankruptcy Court. She is a member of the Business Law and Litigation Sections of the State
