K. Lynn Finateri is a member in the firm's litigation practice group. Her practice focuses on product liability, warranty and general liability matters, including construction and commercial litigation. She has represented American, German, Japanese, Mexican and South Korean manufacturers, suppliers and distributors in a wide variety of matters in both state and federal courts. Although her primary practice is in California and Nevada, Ms. Finateri has assisted in the defense of cases in Arizona, Florida, Hawaii, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas and Washington.
Ms. Finateri has extensive experience in automotive, aviation and industrial equipment-related product litigation. She has developed technical expertise in the areas of air bag deployment/non-deployment, vehicle handling and stability, vehicle rollover, fuel delivery/integrity, safety restraints and crashworthiness. She advises clients on new developments in the law regarding product liability, safety, advertising, new product development and procedural issues. She also assists clients in the development of litigation manuals, presentations, articles, document collections and technical databases. Ms. Finateri has developed strong negotiation skills and has favorably resolved many high profile cases, including pre-litigation matters.
In 2005, Ms. Finateri was selected as a Southern California Rising Star. Rising Stars are chosen by their peers as being among the top up-and-coming lawyers (40 years old or younger, or in practice 10 years or less) in the state. She is a member of the firm's Diversity Committee and Administrative Users Committee. She is also active in her community, involving herself in grant review, fundraising and event organization for several charitable foundations. Upon graduation, she was awarded Loyola Law School's Alumni Association Award for Outstanding Service to her community and school. Prior to and during law school, Ms. Finateri worked in the legal department of a major automotive company.
Significant Decisions
Britton v. Dallas Airmotive, et al., 153 Cal. App. 4th 127 (2007), Court held stay of action was proper under Code of Civil Procedure Section 410.30 where forum non conveniens motion was brought one year after answering complaint.
