Lydia Reine Saloucou is the Population Council representative in Burkina Faso. In addition to providing overall direction to the Council’s work, Saloucou manages a research portfolio consisting of adolescent sexual and reproductive health and socioeconomic development, including livelihoods, reproductive health, and general social development and community mobilization efforts. Saloucou has 15 years of professional work experience in social science research with an emphasis on gender and development issues. Her technical specialties include operations, applied, and behavioral research; health services and health systems research; and program evaluation. Prior to joining the Council she worked in the West African region in several capacities, including as a researcher with l'Unité d'Enseignement et de Recherche en Démographie (UERD) and le Bureau Renforcement Femme de l'Ambassade des Pays Bas, and as a consultant to several nongovernmental organizations.
