Mr. Dorr's litigation practice covers several areas of commercial litigation. He specializes primarily in the defense of brokerage firms and brokers against claims asserted by customers in state and federal court and in arbitration proceedings nationwide. For one of his brokerage firm clients, he has defended cases filed by Enron investors seeking millions of dollars in compensatory damages. He also defends companies and corporate executives in securities class action litigation and investor litigation in state and federal court. Mr. Dorr has also defended a number of cases filed as nationwide or statewide consumer class actions filed against insurance companies, lending institutions, and the manufacturer of an over-the-counter drug. In addition to his primary practice areas, Mr. Dorr has represented clients in various technology-related litigation matters. He has represented two Chief Executive Officers of publicly traded companies in Internet defamation cases, and has represented a company in a dispute over the ownership of an Internet domain name. He also represented an Alabama computer in a commercial lawsuit against Intel Corporation involving antitrust and patent issues. Mr. Dorr also practices in the area of healthcare litigation. He has represented local hospitals and healthcare providers around the state in litigation matters involving issues or employment, patient care, patient privacy and medical staff credentialing issues. In his primary practice area of securities litigation, Mr. Dorr represents brokerage firms such as Merrill Lynch, Inc., Raymond James Financial Services, Inc., UBS, Inc., Citigroup, Inc., and Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. Representative of the other clients and industry sectors that Mr. Dorr has represented are Standard & Poors, Inc., Baptist Health System, Inc., AmSouth Bank, Novartis, Inc., The Travelers Insurance Group, and Intergraph Corporation.Prior To Maynard Cooper:Mr. Dorr served as a law clerk to the Honorable Seybourn H.
