Luke Friang is vice president and chief information officer for drugstore.com, inc. and oversees all aspects of technology planning, development, and operations.
Most recently, Friang was senior director of e-commerce technologies at Costco Wholesale, Inc. He was part of the team that took Costco.com from $100 million to $700 million in annual revenue. During this high-growth period, he served as the primary IT executive responsible for the planning, execution and support of the company's IT strategy for online businesses.
Friang brings considerable retail experience to drugstore.com, having served in a variety of roles at The Spiegel Group and its associated companies. He directed Spiegel's strategic Internet initiative and was responsible for all e-commerce technology operations for the group's companies, including Eddie Bauer and The Spiegel Catalog. At Eddie Bauer, he served as director of Internet technologies and was responsible for the development of www.eddiebauer.com in 1999 and 2000. Before that, he served as manager of applications development and oversaw the e-commerce and call center divisions. Prior to Spiegel, Friang was a manager of call center systems and operations for Progressive Media, Inc. in Seattle.
He has studied business administration, computer sciences, and Internet technology and information architecture at several educational institutions in the Seattle area. |
