Luis Granados is counsel in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm's Washington, D.C. office. As a member of the Employee Benefits Department, Luis focuses his practice on employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs).
Luis is a former managing director of The ESOP Association, the national non-profit organization of companies with ESOPs and practitioners who concentrate on providing services to these plans. While with the association, he led the lobbying effort that resulted in passage of the major ESOP incentives of the 1984 tax bill. He served as Federal ESOP Policy Advisor to the U.S. Office of Personnel Management in 1986-87.
Luis is the author of many articles on the subject of ESOPs, including "Choosing an ESOP Trustee," published by the Journal of American Society of CLU and ChFC in November 1987. He has appeared before numerous congressional, state legislative and agency hearings on ESOPs and related issues. He is a member of the National Center for Employee Ownership and the Employee Stock Ownership Plan Association, where he has served as a director and chairman of the Legislative and Regulatory Advisory Committee.
