Luis Alberto Álvarez Vallejos has been appointed Communications Advise Manager of the Central Bank as from June 2006.
Mr Alvarez is a journalist graduated from the University of Chile. Since 2002 to date he was manager of strategic communication and director of the press area of Imaginación Consultores. He was previously editor of the weekly magazine Que Pasa, editor and subdirector of the evening newspaper La Hora and chief editor of the free morning newspaper La Hora.
Mr Alvarez has also worked as information editor of the newspaper La Tercera, subdirector and acting director of the financial newspaper El Diario Financiero and politics and economy editor of the National Television (TVN) press department. He has worked as correspondent in Chile and editor of the Economic Information Service of Reuters News Agency and he was a journalist of the newspaper El Mercurio from the beginning of the 1980s after starting his career in the press department of Radio Portales.
He is professor at the School of Jounalism of the Catholic University and at the School of Journalism of the Adolfo Ibañez University.
Since August 2005, Mr Alvarez has been a boardmember of the Fundación Rostros Nuevos, an affiliate of the Hogar de Cristo, which receives around 400 people with mental disorders or limitations and who are in a situation of extreme poverty. |
