Lucia Taylor-McCoy was appointed to the Woodmen of the World Board of Directors on January 1, 2004. She was appointed to serve on the Board's Audit Committee in November 2004. Prior to joining the Woodmen of the World Board, Taylor-McCoy served as West Virginia Fraternal Coordinator for the Mountaineer Woodmen of the World of the World Camp, Inc., from April 1, 2000 until December 31, 2003. In addition to her role as Director, Lucia serves as a member of the Board for the Mountaineer Woodmen of the World Camp Inc., and a Director on the Camp Sunshine Mountain Lakes, Inc. board. A Woodmen of the World member since 1981, Taylor-McCoy has held nearly every officer position within her lodge and jurisdiction, including serving as President of the West Virginia Jurisdiction from 1997 to 1999. She currently serves as a trustee for Charleston Lodge 254. She has also been recognized by her lodge and jurisdiction for her fraternal dedication and community service, receiving the Woman of Woodcraft award in 1988, the West Virginia Fraternalist of the Year award in 1991and a Woodmen of the World Meritorious Service Citation in 1999. Lucia is also a past President of the West Virginia Fraternal Congress and currently serves on its board as Corresponding Secretary. Lucia has been active in various community organizations, including the Junior Women's League of America, Boy Scouts of America, and the Children's Home Society of West Virginia. She has also served on a number of school and church related committees, and has 20 years experience working with young people as an elementary school teacher. She is a graduate of West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education. Lucia has also been an active member and leader within her church community, serving as Director for Educational Programs and President of the Parish Council. |
