Lowell R. Bowen, managing partner of the firm from 1974 to 1991 and chairman during 2001 and 2002, has been consistently ranked over the years as one of Maryland’s top corporate lawyers. His clients range from listed public companies to small family enterprises.Mr. Bowen received his B.A. with Honors in Literature from the University of Maryland in 1952, served for two years as a lieutenant in the United States Air Force, and received his law degree in 1957 from the University of Maryland School of Law. Following graduation, he served for a year as law clerk to the Honorable Roszel C. Thomsen, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, and joined the firm as an associate in 1958. Mr. Bowen has served on the Governor’s Commission to Revise the Annotated Code of Maryland (now the Revision Committee) since 1973 and on the Standing Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure of the Court of Appeals of Maryland since 1980.
