Lou Salza is head of ASSETS School, the only K-12 school in Hawai'i for children who are gifted and struggle with language-based learning differences in our state.
Mr. Salza holds a bachelor's degree in English and secondary education from the University of Massachusetts and a master's degree in reading and language from Harvard University. Mr. Salza has taught in private and public schools in both special and regular education programs. He served as a consultant and educational specialist to the School Function Program at Boston Children's Hospital, and was the head of the Upper School at Landmark School in Prides Crossing, Massachusetts.
Mr. Salza spent eight years as the assistant principal of the Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School. He is past president of the Learning Disabilities Network in Hingham, Massachusetts, a past member of the nominating committee of the International Dyslexia Association. Mr. Salza is the current president of the Board of Directors of the Hawai'i Association of Independent Schools and a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Association of Independent Schools.
