Barbara is an executive coach with The Leader’s Edge. She brings more than 20 years of experience working in major global and domestic organizations, more than half of which she has provided leadership strategy and executive coaching to senior leadership to the company. Prior to moving into coaching, Barbara held the Chief Human Resources Officer position within Catholic Health East, a 43,000 employee healthcare system that operated in eleven eastern states, and CARE USA, a 12,000-employee global non-governmental organization which operates in over 45 countries. Barbara also spent 11 years practicing law as resident counsel to The Ford Foundation and deputy attorney general with the Attorney General of New Jersey. Barbara has extensive experience in aligning human resources and leadership development strategies with business strategies to ensure delivery of business outcomes and highly competent talent. She has been a key advisor to CEOs and leadership committees of Boards, particularly on issues of organizational transformation, workforce development, succession planning, and diversity. She led the creation of the CARE USA’s virtual learning institute the first of its kind in the nongovernmental arena that supported CARE’s cutting-edge global learning and staff development strategies. She also was credited with developing and implementing CARE’s highly successful global diversity and gender equity strategies, which won CARE recognition by the Society of Human Resources Management. She has an undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas, a J.D. from Rutgers University, and a LLM in tax from New York University. Barbara is a member of the boards of: Winning Workplaces, a Chicago-based nonprofit organization focusing upon helping businesses and nonprofits create extraordinary work environments; The Women’s Commission for Refugee Women and Children, a New York-based international NGO focused on advocacy for refugees in developing countries; and Global Health Ministry which delivers healthcare services to low-income communities in Latin America and the Caribbean. |
