Linda Varrenti Hernandez is Of Counsel for Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote, P.C. She concentrates her practice in the area of medicare set-aside programs. In addition, she also handles matters in the toxic tort area, with a particular emphasis in insurance defense as well as personal bankruptcy and family law matters. Her work in the area of medicare set-asides has been for both large and small companies in various industries with multiple locations. Ms. Hernandez was recently hired as the Gender Equality Coordinator with the Allegheny County Bar Association. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and is admitted to practice before Pennsylvania's State and Federal Courts. Ms. Hernandez graduated from West Virginia University in 1981 with a B.A. in Political Science, History, and Business. She received her J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law in 2001, where she was a recipient of the Outstanding Female Graduate Award and the CALI Award for Outstanding Performance in Business Planning. Ms. Hernandez is a frequent lecturer, having made presentations on innovative pro bono partnerships. She has written about the Certification process in Pennsylvania courts in various publications including Duquesne's Juris. In addition, she is a member of the Oakland Catholic High School Board of Directors. Ms. Hernandez participated in the year long program, Lawyers on Loan. This is a pro bono initiative whereby an experienced attorney is "on loan" to Neighborhood Legal Services Association, while still a member of the law firm. This service provides needed support to an agency that has experienced significant budget cuts and yet continually serves the needs of the economically deprived in our community. |
