Linda Newborn is Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer of Deere & Company. She was appointed to this position in May 2005. Newborn is responsible for leading the company's Office of Corporate Compliance, coordinating and sharing best practices to improve compliance efforts in all aspects of Deere's processes, policies and practices.
Newborn began her career at Deere & Company in 1972 as a summer intern, and joined the Internal Audit staff in 1973. After successfully completing a number of positions of increasing responsibility in Accounting at several John Deere units, she was named Personnel Supervisor, John Deere Harvester Works, and later Division Manager of Group Benefits for Deere & Company. Following her appointment as Personnel Manager for the Harvester Works in 1994, Newborn was named Director, Diversity for Deere & Company in 1999. She was later appointed to the newly created position of Director, Staffing, Diversity and Work/Life. Most recently she served as Director, Human Resources, for John Deere Power Systems prior to becoming Chief Compliance Officer in March 2004.
Newborn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and French from Augustana College, and has done graduate work at the University of Iowa. She serves on the board of directors for Augustana College, Arrowhead Ranch, Community Foundation of the Great River Bend, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Newborn is a past member of the American Red Cross board of directors, and past president of the Moline YWCA Foundation.
