Lewis Levin is corporate vice president of Office Business Applications Strategy at Microsoft. In this role he leads development of strategy and cross-group execution to enable and deliver applications and services that bring the familiar and easy-to-use interface and collaboration-rich functionality of Microsoft Office to the Business Intelligence (BI) and Line of Business (LOB) arena. Examples of this work include Microsoft’s partnership with SAP to jointly deliver the Duet product, and Microsoft’s upcoming PerformancePoint BI offering.
Since Levin joined Microsoft in 1986, he has held a variety of positions in the company. Most recently, he was vice president in the Platform Technology and Strategy Group and worked on refining Microsoft’s overall strategy in the BI area. Previous to that, he was a vice president in Microsoft’s Consumer and Commerce Group, where he served as president and CEO of TransPoint, the bill presentment and payment joint venture formerly owned by Microsoft, First Data Corp. and Citibank. Earlier he was vice president of the Desktop Finance Division with responsibility for Microsoft Money and two of Microsoft’s MSN sites, Investor and MoneyCentral. He also has been vice president and general manager of the Excel Group; the director of applications marketing, a position in which he launched the first version of Microsoft Office for Windows; and group product manager for PowerPoint. He also has held a variety of other product marketing positions.
Before joining Microsoft, Levin worked for a mainframe financial planning software company and was a senior product manager with the word processing pioneer Micropro International.
Levin holds a bachelor's degree in business administration, quantitative analysis and finance from the University of Cincinnati, as well as a master's degree from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. |
